Genesee Baseball History

The town of Genesee has has a baseabll team in the Land O Lakes Baseball League since 1922. Genesee was one of the original members and has had a team in the league since then. The team started off being known as the Genesee Reds and played at a small ball field located behind Magee Elementary School. In 1968, manager Dick Bloom decided that it was time for new uniforms. This led to a name change as they adopted the "Twins" moniker as a shout out to the "twin cities" of Genesee and Genesee Depot. The Twins were consistently near the top of the league through the 70's and 80's and emerged as a powerhouse in the early 90's winning the Grand Championship in 1994. While the Twins were winning, a young group of players wanted their chance to shine. As a result, the Genesee Rebels were formed in 1993 and have been in the league since. Unfortunately, the Twins ceased to exist after the 1997 season, but baseball has continued strong in Genesee.
